I built a Python and PowerShell test system that sent synthetic HL7 messages to check medical-device integrations, reducing manual testing.
The work
At Kaiser Permanente, I led respiratory-care systems work across seven regions. Integration and testing were part of that responsibility.
The test system brought scripting into work that otherwise required manual effort. Python and PowerShell provided a way to send synthetic HL7 messages and exercise device integrations.
Why synthetic HL7 messages?
HL7 messages carry information between healthcare systems. Synthetic messages are constructed for testing, giving a team a way to exercise an interface with test inputs.
In this project, I used them to check device integrations. The purpose was practical: reduce manual testing through a tool built around the integration work.
Integration experience behind the tooling
My background includes Epic, medical devices, and clinical applications. At HealthPartners, I owned medical-device integration design, build, rollout, and support across 11 hospitals and 7 outpatient surgery clinics.
That work involved clinical, biomedical, network, and vendor teams. I bring both hands-on scripting and experience with the wider implementation to an integration project.
